January 2009 - Presents Tools for Beautiful Skin
That’s why we’re sponsoring a series of four weekly health presentations to help you get your beauty (and health!) off to a positive start in 2009.
Each Wednesday evening during the month of January at 7 p.m., Abundance will host educators from four different disciplines who will each present and discuss a critical element of healthy skin: (1) optimum nutrition (2) proper supplementation (3) balanced hormones and (4) physical activity.
Leading the line-up is food coach, Natasha Loeffler-Little, who will explain how optimum digestion assures glowing skin. Natasha will show us how simple it is to start on the path to healthier food habits. The second Wednesday features Dr. Vicky Cruz, who will explain the important role that accurate diagnostics play in assuring that the supplements you’re taking are the ones that your body actually needs an the benefits of a safe detox program. In our third week of the series, Lorrie Meyercord, licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, explains how Chinese Medicine can help to rebalance your body so that your skin looks radiant and nourished. On the fourth Wednesday, personal trainer, Mary Velez, will discuss the life-changing benefits of focusing on your mind and your spirit when developing a whole-body workout program for 2009. There is no cost for this education series.

Heading for the Holidays 2008!
Our two November make-over events were sold out as well! We have a great deal of fun on Make-over Saturdays. The usual serenity of the salon shifts into a more festive and celebratory atmosphere as we crank up the music, pass the refreshments, and let our gifted make-up artists, Maureen and Natalie, do their magic. We pride ourselves on education about cosmetics. Our goal is to help clients build confidence in their at-home make-up application. The big hits in the TRUE Fall 2008 release are the Skin Tint liquid, a beautiful sheer tinted moisturizer that lifts and tightens the skin while providing a finish that evens out imperfections. Our make-up artists love this product, and I have received several calls from clients raving about the new Hy-Performance mascara.
So we are excited and ready for our two big make-over events on December 13 and 20!! Based on the fun we had during our make-overs in November, we’ve decided to make both December 13 and 20 complimentary make-overs in honor of our 4th anniversary. So it’s cake-and-champagne and you’re all invited.
This year we are dedicated to helping de-stress the holidays. Clients are invited to pass us their gift lists, sit back and relax and let us customize a gift for each special person on the lists. We have even been known to help with the wrapping and shipping!
Have a beautiful week!

Injectables and Dermal Fillers - Are They For You?
Since 2004, Abundance skin care has come to be known as a skin care practice specializing in non-invasive anti-aging and focusing on chemical-free ingredients. I was not surprised recently when I received questions from clients and friends, asking if the introduction of injectables at Abundance is congruent with our philosophy.
Injectables are a highly misunderstood category of skin rejuvenation practices. They are classified as minimally invasive, because they are administered with a fine needle. However, the ingredients used (primarily hyaluronic acid) are, in almost all cases, naturally found in skin. Over the years, I have observed some poorly administered Botox and fillers that have been administered too aggressively. We have all witnessed the surreal features that trademark overuse. It is critical that dermal fillers and wrinkle correction procedures are performed by a skilled professional with many years of experience and knowledge of many different dermal products. When wrinkle correction is performed with knowledge and experience, the result is a smooth, very natural and rested look without adverse effects.
Each client has his or her own unique goals and concerns about skin and aging. It is up to each individual to determine the best solution. It is my goal to offer my clients the very best in anti-aging treatments and products. Likewise, for those services that are not featured on our menu, to offer the very best information and referrals for the anti-aging services requested.
This month I am very excited about our event with Dr. Bradley Greene on November 17. Dr. Greene is a facial plastic surgeon, specializing in reconstructive surgery. He is also an expert with injectables and dermal fillers. He will be doing a presentation at Abundance on Monday afternoon at 4 p.m., to discuss advances in skin care and specifically injectables and the newest dermal fillers. Following a period for questions and answers, Dr. Greene will be taking appointments.
If you have had experience with dermal fillers and injectables, you will appreciate this opportunity to save 20%. If you are curious or have questions about dermal fillers and injectables, we look forward to seeing you on November 17 at 4 p.m. Don’t forget to RSVP ~ 650-560-9600.
